Weekly Update

This Sunday: The Skeptics and The Lazy Ones

Do you own exercise equipment you never use? Have you ever started a hobby that now collects dust? Ok, here’s the REALLY challenging one– have you ever gotten all fired up about God, bought a Bible or something, and then settled into lukewarm?

If so, then this Sunday is for you!

Don’t feel too bad, we’ve all been there. Jesus once asked a challenging question, calling out those with a lack of follow through. But he also offers hope: answering God’s call later is better than never answering it at all. In fact, God clearly prefers the skeptics and the lazy ones who come to faith slowly over the ones who burn out in an instant. It’s never to late– join us Sunday to be inspired anew!

New SpiritGroups, Disciple Fast Track Starting Soon

Disciple Fast Track classes and Spirit Group studies are gearing up for the fall, and you’re invited! Spirit groups are 6-8 week video studies hosted by congregation members in their homes & scheduled around your group’s busy lives. If you are already affiliated with a group, your leader will be in contact with you; if you’re new to Spirit Groups, we have a “Starter Group” planned and we encourage you to give it a try!

Disciple Fast Track is an in-depth study of the bible, with weekly classes. You can choose either Old Testament in the Fall, New Testament in the Spring, or both, taught by Rev. Amy Slater. If you are interested in either of these opportunities, please contact Anna Borders or stop by the information desk after service this Sunday.

Wonderful Wednesday/Third Service

It’s not too late to join us for Wonderful Wednesday/Third Service on October 4th at 5:30pm in Friendship Place, on the east side of the church. We will gather for a pot-luck meal followed by Third Service in the same room. This is a great time to get together mid-week for some food, fellowship and faith! We ask that you bring a main course and either a side dish or dessert to share with the group. There will be a different speaker each week during Third Service. This week’s speaker is Amy Slater!

Time for a Bike/Hike!

It’s time to start “rolling” and come to the Bike/Hike on Sunday, October 1st from 3 to 4pm in Carey Park. We will meet at the playground area south of the Zoo and east of the golf course office. The Health & Hospitality Team encourages you to come, get some exercise either on your bike or by walking in the great outdoors!

UMW District Meeting
The Annual District Meeting of the UMW  for the Hutchinson District will be Saturday, October 14th at Trinity United Methodist Church here in Hutchinson. The keynote speaker is Yvette Richards, immediate past president of the national UMW. The deadline for registration is October 6th. If you are interested in attending please contact Kathy Juby (663-1312) or Ruby Green (662-9364) prior to the deadline.
