That question may have made you uneasy or perhaps it made you laugh! For some of you, though, that question may have made you smile with contentment at God’s blessings. This week we begin a new series looking at what our money has to say about our faith, and asking what it COULD say about our faith if we let it. It’s based on a saying by John Wesley, Methodism’s founder: “Earn all you can, save all you can, give all you can.” The title is a funny one, I hope: “Mind Your Own Business.” It’s a pun… come Sunday to find out why and to take even just one step toward finding the richness of God’s blessing in perhaps the last place you’d think to look.
Unity In Diversity
We have an exciting opportunity coming up at FUMC. Our community is organizing a unity church service designed to bring together the diverse churches in Hutchinson– and we’re not only participating but hosting as well! THIS Sunday, October 22 at 6pm we will fill our huge sanctuary with people from all over Hutchinson! It will be a true worship service, led mostly by music groups from around town with a few brief speakers between them. Please share the invitation with your friends from other churches and those who don’t go to church, too. Click here to see the event on Facebook— please respond there if you plan to come, too, as it will help share it with even more people. It’s something you won’t want to miss!
Wonderful Wednesday/Halloween Party
You won’t want to miss out on Wonderful Wednesday this week on October 25th at 6:00pm in Friendship Place, on the east side of the church. We will gather for a Halloween pot-luck meal in Friendship Place. We ask that you bring food that has a “Halloween” touch to it! And….if you’d like to dress up in costume, that would be awesome! Come for the food! Come for the fun! And come with a friend!!
Our Children’s Ministry has LOTS going on!
First, don’t miss the Fall Get Together! Click on the picture for more info!
Second, it’s time to train new Acolytes! Acolytes are the wonderful helpers that light the candles during second service and who lead us in taking that light into the world at the end. Acolyte training will take place Oct. 29th during the Sunday School hour. Any children over 7 who haven’t been trained and would like to light the candles during Sunday service are welcome.
Third, We are collecting supplies for College Care packets to be sent to members of the church who are currently enrolled in college. Please send the names of college students along with address information to Shaelee, who you can email by clicking here. If you would like to contribute items we suggest prepackaged snacks, popcorn, candy, gift cards etc. Donations will be accepted in the Narthex through Sunday Nov. 19. This ministry reminds our college members that they are loved and supported by FUMC!
We give thanks for the life of Lloyd McAdams. You can read his obituary by clicking here.
Pantry Needs: Spaghetti sauce, canned tuna (with pull tab to open), breakfast bars, fruit snack packs, pudding cup snack packs, canned fruit, spaghetti, canned vegetables, hamburger helper, crackers, peanut butter.
