This Sunday: Gratitude and Faith

Why be thankful?

Seriously, I mean we all have reasons to be thankful, but what good does it do? Why should we bother?

Having an attitude of thankfulness helps us to be happy, for one. That’s a goal we can all agree on– it sure beats complaining! But spiritual masters over the centuries have seen more than that. There’s something about gratitude that reaches deep into our souls and draws us nearer to God.

But, as Sunday’s scripture shows, most people never learn this important lesson! Come, join us and be thankful. It’ll do your soul good!

Giving Campaign

We do so much good as a church! Of course we worship each Sunday and have many small groups to help people grow spiritually. We also help the poor in our neighborhood and reach out into our community to extend God’s welcome. But none of it is free– it takes the combined generosity of all of us to make it happen!

If you attend regularly, you should receive a pledge form this week. Please pray about how God is leading you. This Sunday, November 19, we’ll lay them on the altar and pray for God to do amazing things with our commitments! (We’ll also have forms available then if you don’t want to miss out.)

Hanging of the Greens

‘Tis the season to deck the halls! Help us usher in the holidays by decorating the church building for our Advent season. Wear your favorite silly holiday sweater and join us starting at 9:45 am on Sunday, December 3rd for a festive hour of tinsel, garland, Christmas cookies, cocoa, and carols. Cookies and cocoa will be served in the Narthex coffee bar area and you are welcome to bring your favorite Christmas cookies to share. The more, the merrier!!! Decorations are located on the 3rd floor in room 307, come on up – we’ll be there with bells on!

Advent Bible Study with 50/50 Class

Beginning Sunday, November 19th the 50/50 Sunday School class will be doing an Advent study during the Sunday school hour.  All are welcome to attend the study, written by Adam Hamilton, and called, “Faithful: Christmas Through the Eyes of Joseph.” The class meets in room 107.
