This Sunday: Gratitude and Faith

Why be thankful?

Seriously, I mean we all have reasons to be thankful, but what good does it do? Why should we bother?

Having an attitude of thankfulness helps us to be happy, for one. That’s a goal we can all agree on– it sure beats complaining! But spiritual masters over the centuries have seen more than that. There’s something about gratitude that reaches deep into our souls and draws us nearer to God.

But, as Sunday’s scripture shows, most people never learn this important lesson! Come, join us and be thankful. It’ll do your soul good!

Volunteers Needed

We are finally getting the Narthex carpet professionally cleaned! We have an appointment on Monday morning (Nov. 27th) for a cleaning service to come and clean the carpet, but we need to move all of the coffee bar furniture out of the way. Are you able to stay 20 or 30 minutes after church this Sunday, November 26th, to help? Meet Anna Borders in the Narthex after 2nd Service.

I could also use some help setting up Fellowship Hall for the UMW Christmas sale. I’ll have Fellowship Hall open on Monday, November 27th at 1:00 pm, and this should only take a little over an hour. For any questions, please contact Anna Borders. Thank you!

New to You Christmas Sale

On Saturday, December 2nd, the First United Methodist Women will host a New to You Christmas Sale from 8am to 1pm in Fellowship Hall.  There will be a Death by Chocolate booth, Cookies & Baked Items booth, and New to You Items for sale.  Lots of goodies and fun searching for that certain gift you may need for Christmas!

Hanging of the Greens

‘Tis the season to deck the halls! Help us usher in the holidays by decorating the church building for our Advent season. Wear your favorite silly holiday sweater and join us starting at 9:45 am on Sunday, December 3rd for a festive hour of tinsel, garland, Christmas cookies, cocoa, and carols. Cookies and cocoa will be served in the Narthex coffee bar area and you are welcome to bring your favorite Christmas cookies to share. The more, the merrier!!! Decorations are located on the 3rd floor in room 307, come on up – we’ll be there with bells on!

Pledge Reminder

Last Sunday we brought our pledges forward to declare our intentions to support FUMC over the coming year. It is always moving to see everyone coming forward and to imagine what God will do with our many gifts! If you haven’t turned your’s in yet, it’s not too late! You can return it to the office any way you like, including through the offering plate on Sunday. Thank you!
