There are parts of this world that are just messed up, there’s no better way to put it. Abuse, terrorism, disease, war… God’s hope may be everywhere, but where are we to find it in times like these?
Recently, a team from our church, the Mission Possible team, went to the UMCOR Depot– the United Methodist Church’s headquarters for global disaster relief, one of the largest and most effective such organizations in the world. Their stories are remarkable and this Sunday they will share it with us. The experience left them much more hopeful about the world– hearing about it will give you hope, too!
Christmas Poinsettia Order
You have the opportunity to order poinsettias either in honor or in memory of your loved one(s) until December 11th. There is also a memorial/honor alternative opportunity for giving towards our Mission Share as well. Check out the bulletin insert this Sunday or call the church office with any questions.
Christmas Eve Worship Schedule
Christmas Eve is on a Sunday this year, and that means a blessedly busy day for FUMC Worship! In order to keep our staff and volunteers from working quite as long on Christmas Eve, we are going to combine our morning worship services into one 10:55 service. (It will be at 10:55 so we will still go out over the radio.) That service will be a normal Sunday morning service, not a candlelight Christmas Eve service.
Then, in the evening, we will have two services at 5pm and 11pm. Both will celebrate the coming of God into the world through Christ Jesus with Christmas carols, the telling of the story, and of course candlelight while singing Silent Night. The 5pm service will be especially family friendly while 11pm will use pipe organ and also include Communion.
There’s no better time to bring a friend to worship, sharing the hope and welcome you’ve received. They will be moved by an experience of God’s presence!
Christmas Eve Volunteers Needed
There are many opportunities for you to help with these services. We need worship leaders, song leaders, candle lighters, video operators, sound board operators, communion helpers, and ushers. Please contact Lisa Dale and let her know where you can help. Thank you in advance for your commitment to help!
Don’t forget to support our Hope Houses, the colorful boxes on the west side of our building! Bring anything to leave for anyone to take.
Have you linked your Dillons Plus card with the church? If you do, a portion of all your normal purchases will go to support our ministries! You can set it up by clicking here or contact the office if you’d like help.
Come this Sunday to hear about our Mission Possible teams’ amazing experience!
