Weekly Update

Holy Spirit Dove.jpg

This Sunday at First…

When was the last time you encountered God? I’ll bet it happens more often than you know!

When Jesus was baptized the heavens opened up and God’s spirit descended like a dove. A tremendous voice was heard! Such experiences are not unheard of today, but most of the time God comes to us in smaller ways, more like the “still, small voice” spoken of earlier in Scripture.

Join us this Sunday as we hear the story of Jesus’ baptism and learn to better appreciate the “God moments” we have every day!

(We worship at 8:30 and 10:55 or 11:05 on KWBW)

Christmas Un-Decking
Alas, the holiday season is over and it’s time to “un-deck” the halls once again. If you are available to help during the Sunday School hour this Sunday (January 7th, starting at 9:45 a.m.), we will be removing Christmas decorations throughout the church. This should not take very long, with the main areas being the North Education Entrance, the Narthex, and the Sanctuary entrance outside lights. Classroom decorations or class assigned areas can also be taken down during this time or scheduled for another day. The church was particularly beautiful this year, and I thank all of those who helped! If you have questions or need to make specific arrangements, please contact Anna Borders. See you Sunday!

Circles of Hope Volunteers Needed

Circles of Hope Reno County is a community initiative helping families with limited resources better their circumstances. We call it an initiative because it is a long-term solution to a long-term problem. A Circles of Hope Ally is an advocate for a Circle Leader, walking beside them during the time immediately following completion of the training program. It is a critical period for Circle Leaders when they need support and guidance in order to reach their goals.

We are currently seeking caring individuals to serve as Allies. As an Ally, you will provide support not only to a Circle Leader, but also have the opportunity to promote collaboration and advocacy in our community. If you would like to become an Ally, please contact:

Marla McKee, Ally Recruitment Coordinator

Other Blessings
  • Pantry Needs: Spaghetti sauce, canned tuna (with pull tab to open), breakfast bars, fruit snack packs, canned fruit, canned vegetables, crackers, peanut butter, pancake mix & syrup.
  • Don’t forget to support our Hope Houses, the colorful boxes on the west side of our building! Bring anything to leave for anyone to take.
  • Have you linked your Dillons Plus card with the church? If you do, a portion of all your normal purchases will go to support our ministries! You can set it up by clicking here or contact the office if you’d like help.
