Does something from your past ever feel like a weight around your ankles? Do you wish you knew more about God? If so, then this Sunday is for you!
This week we continue our series, “Jesus Begins,” looking at the very first things Jesus does as he begins his adult life in the Gospel of Mark. This week we watch as Jesus goes to church, essentially– we can never neglect growing in our faith. But what happened next was just as interesting. Jesus cast out a demon! Literal demons may be something outside of your experience, and we’ll talk about that. But one thing we can all agree upon is that sometimes something from our past, whatever it may be, weighs us down and keeps us from growing. How wonderful to know that Jesus is here to help us!
Join us Sunday to grow and to take the next step in letting Jesus help you!
Church Conference for Candidates
We are so blessed at FUMC to have multiple candidates for ordained ministry! We are all called to ministry in one way or another and no ministry is more important than any other. But, many churches go years without anyone in their midst hearing this particular call– not here, though!
This Sunday we will have a special, called Church Conference at 9:30am (after First Service) to vote on two candidates, Anna Borders (for pastoral ministry) and Jeanne Koontz (for the ministry of Deacon.) Come support them as they take the next step in this journey!
Children’s Ministry Annual Chili and Soup Contest
February 18th After Church
Entries Submission Form due February 11
This year, we’re adding a twist! Instead of a panel of judges, the church will decide on a winner by popular vote. Church members may buy 25 votes for $5. Then each member attending may divide their votes as they see fit. The entry with the most votes wins! Bribery and bargaining are NOT off limits!
Dillons Community Rewards
Last Sunday Pastor Jeff mentioned the program at Dillons where our church can get a portion of Kroger’s charitable giving if our members link their Dillons Plus cards. It doesn’t affect your fuel points or any rewards, but it does mean that all of your purchases (even groceries, prescriptions, and gas) help our church!
You can link your Plus card by going to http://www.dillons.com/communityrewards” target=”_blank” style=”word-wrap: break-word;-ms-text-size-adjust: 100%;-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;color: #6DC6DD;font-weight: normal;text-decoration: underline;”>dillons.com/communityrewards. We’re happy to help you in the office if you have trouble, or you can ask at Dillons’ Customer Service desk. Since there are many churches with the name “First United Methodist,” be sure you get ours: if it helps, our number in their system is 10171. You can see whether or not your card is already linked at the bottom of every receipt.
Don’t forget to support our Hope Houses, the colorful boxes on the west side of our building! Bring anything to leave for anyone to take.
Have you linked your Dillons Plus card with the church? If you do, a portion of all your normal purchases will go to support our ministries! http://www.dillons.com/communityrewards” target=”_self” title=”” style=”word-wrap: break-word;-ms-text-size-adjust: 100%;-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;color: #6DC6DD;font-weight: normal;text-decoration: underline;”>You can set it up by clicking here or contact the office if you’d like help.
Join us this Sunday between services at 9:30am to support our candidates for ministry!
