This Sunday: The Story

This week’s service will be different.

The story of Holy Week and Easter is usually only told once a year, but in it is the richness of the Christian faith and hope for all life. This Sunday we’ll sing “Hosannah” and wave palm branches for Palm Sunday. But, we’ll go quickly through our usual worship in prayer and song. Then, we’ll tell the story from the Gospels and even the Old Testament and let it speak to us. Our choir has prepared a few songs to break things up and add some artistic depth, but this Sunday is really about one thing: the story.

Come, and be transformed by God’s love!

Easter Candy Collection

Easter will be here before we know it and it’s time to be thinking about First Church’s tradition of an Easter Egg Hunt after second service for the kids. In order to do this, we need your help! We will be collecting individually wrapped candy to be put into plastic eggs the whole month of March. You may bring your individually wrapped candy to the Narthex any Sunday during March. Thank you in advance for helping to carry on this tradition for the children!

Easter Flowers/Gift to Great Plains Mission Share

This year, instead of ordering Easter Lilies, we invite you to bring your choice of an Easter plant or flower on Easter Sunday, April 1st,  for the front of the sanctuary. Pastor Jeff will say a blessing over the arrangements and after the service you can take them to your loved ones place of rest or give it to someone you care about.

You may give a special Easter gift to go towards our Great Plains Mission Share (everything we do together locally, nationally and throughout the world as United Methodists) in memory or in honor of a special person. There will be an insert in Sunday’s bulletin, on March 25, for you to fill out and turn in with your gift. A list of those who gave will be in the bulletin on Easter Sunday.

Other Blessings
  • Pantry Needs: Spaghetti sauce, canned tuna (with pull tab to open), breakfast bars, fruit snack packs, canned fruit, canned vegetables, crackers, peanut butter, pancake mix & syrup.
  • Don’t forget to support our Hope Houses, the colorful boxes on the west side of our building! Bring anything to leave for anyone to take.
  • Have you linked your Dillons Plus card with the church? If you do, a portion of all your normal purchases will go to support our ministries! You can set it up by clicking here or contact the office if you’d like help.
  • A BIG THANKS to everyone who helped with the Rummage Sale & Easter Boutique!  This “thank you” also goes to those who helped with the set-up for the sale!  The UMW appreciates all your efforts in making this sale a success!!

Who will you invite for Easter? It’s a great opportunity to bring a friend!
