Weekly Update

Unafraid: Fear of Failure

Does fear ever make you stop before you get started? Failure is real, it’s embarrassing, and can have serious consequences. But FEAR of failure can lead to missed opportunities, waylaid dreams, and hopelessness.

This week we will hear about Moses, who experienced God’s call in the midst of his boring but secure day job. When God called him to travel to Pharaoh and demand he set the Hebrew people free, Moses’ response was: “Send someone else.” Lucky for him and the Hebrews God didn’t listen. Despite Moses’ many frightened excuses that he wasn’t good enough to do the job, God’s repeated “I AM” strengthened him and sustained him to be one of the most influential and successful persons in the world.

Throughout the Bible, God continues to promise leaders like Joshua and others that God will oversee their endeavors just like with Moses. God is also with us and helps us achieve good things as well.

It’s also United Methodist Women Sunday! Come celebrate this group in our church. Together they do an incredible amount of good in the world!

Basket Auction

The education committee is hosting a basket silent auction to raise funds for much needed building repairs in the children’s area. Basket donations need to be turned in April 29. Winners of the silent auction will be announced at the all church dinner on May 20th. See Shaelee Mendenhall for details.

Scholarship Applications

Any college student interested in a church scholarship must obtain a scholarship application from the church office. Applications are due June 1st.

Cornerstone Time Capsule

If you haven’t heard, this week we had a surprise. We figured we’d get a chance to access our building’s cornerstone time capsules as that wall received repair work. But, we didn’t think we’d get access nearly as early as we did– and we also didn’t know we’d have only 24 hours to look at them! Monday we had an impromptu “viewing party” for anyone who wanted to see, but sadly we weren’t able to get the word out as well as we would have liked. We did take good pictures of everything and saved copies of what we added… soon we’ll make a bulletin board so all can see. (Any volunteers to help make the display? Contact Pastor Jeff!)
