Elijah, the great Bible hero, wasn’t just afraid, he was terrified. Then God spoke in what seemed the unlikeliest of ways.
This week we start a new series looking at heroes in the Bible who wrestled with fear. (You didn’t think you were the only one, did you?) We begin with Elijah, who tried to run away from it all. The story of how he finally heard God’s voice is a wonderful and colorful one, showing just how unpredictable God’s Spirit can be. But in the end, he trusted God and became the person God made him to be.
The same will be true for you!
All-Church Covered Dish Dinner
This Sunday, May 20th, there will be an All-Church Covered Dish Dinner after second service in Fellowship Hall. We are asking everyone to bring a main course and either a side or dessert to share. Drinks will be provided! At the dinner announcements from the Education Team will be made for the winners of the baskets from the silent auction. Also, there will be a safety program presented by Lt. Bryce Burlie, from the Hutchinson Police Department. He will be speaking to us about our safety in case there should be an act of violence at the church. This is not a program to scare us, but rather a program to educate us.
Giving Garden- Garden that keeps on Giving
Starting Sunday, June 10th, there will be a table in the Narthex each week where persons can bring extra fruits/vegetables from their gardens to share with others at church. Extra produce that will not stay good from one Sunday to the next will be taken out into the community to share. This is a summer project of the Health & Hospitality Team.
Cornerstone Bulletin Board
A few weeks ago we had the rare opportunity to access the time capsules in the cornerstone of our building. One is from 1907, the other from 1972. But, we only had 24 hours and we didn’t get any advance notice! Many came on short notice to see the contents, but many others were not able.
We took lots of pictures of what was in there and have made a bulletin board so all can see. (Thanks, Becky Kisner!) Stop by the North Ed. entrance and take a look! It is especially interesting to read the letters we added to the boxes from Pastor Jeff and from our District superintendent.
Don’t forget to support our Hope Houses, the colorful boxes on the west side of our building! Bring anything to leave for anyone to take.
Have you linked your Dillons Plus card with the church? If you do, a portion of all your normal purchases will go to support our ministries! You can set it up by clicking here or contact the office if you’d like help.
It’s the last week for the basket auction… Come this Sunday for last minute bids. Stay for the dinner to find out who won!
