This Sunday: It’s a Dirty Job (But Somebody Has to Do It)
Let’s face it, life is messy.
Sometimes people come to faith thinking that everything is going to be rosy. Far from it, though the truth is even better: our God is a God who loves “dirt,” and who is not afraid to get his hands dirty with you. In fact, we have to get dirty to get clean! God doesn’t just come in with some sort of “life vacuum cleaner,” though… far from it. God calls US to do the dirty work that it takes to clean ourselves and, eventually, the world!
Join us this Sunday as Anna Borders shares the message with us for the last time before she heads off to become a pastor!
All-Church Covered Dish Dinner
An All-Church Covered Dish Dinner will take place THIS Sunday, June 24th in honor of our candidates for ministry, Anna Borders and Brenda Hogan. We ask that you bring a main course and either a side or dessert to share. Drinks will be provided. There will be two baskets at the dinner–one for Anna and one for Brenda that you can place cards and gifts in. Come, celebrate this new journey in their lives.
Going Deeper Class
Just a reminder… the Going Deeper Class returns this Sunday at 9:45am in the Chapel. If you are new to the church and want to go deeper, this is for you. But, it’s good for long-timers who’d like to be better connected, too. Join us this Sunday to learn about grace and ways you can give of your time and energy to further God’s work here!
Our church has now been part of the conference Healthy Congregations program for nearly fifteen years. Currently we have seven church members that have gone through the conference training. “Healthy Congregations is designed to pair the energy and passion of local church members with resources, funding, training and a support network- providing a strong foundation for success.â€
Thank you for completing the recent congregational needs assessment tool. This was a small part of the work done to enable our church to receive a $1,000.00 renewable grant for the coming year. With this grant there will be programs in our church to help our physical, social, mental, and spiritual health. Our assessment tool’s highest priority was for increased spiritual health. Watch for opportunities in this area. Some of the other programs for the church year will be: care visitor thank-you brunch and recruitment, support of children’s Sunday breakfast and summer softball program, and a fall “class†supporting eating healthy.
Don’t forget to support our Hope Houses, the colorful boxes on the west side of our building! Bring anything to leave for anyone to take.
Have you linked your Dillons Plus card with the church? If you do, a portion of all your normal purchases will go to support our ministries! You can set it up by clicking here or contact the office if you’d like help.
Come this week Anna’s final thoughts before leaving to become a pastor and to pray over both her and Brenda! (All-church meal, too!)
