I don’t suppose any of us can fully answer yes to that, though most of us want to have a good heart.
As we continue our study of Jesus’ moral teaching in Matthew 5, this week we get to the very “heart” of it: love. I’m not talking about sappy “love song” romantic love, I’m talking about deep respect and honor for everything that God has made. Jesus doesn’t beat around the bush, he goes right to the hardest part: loving the people who have harmed us, loving our enemies.
It’s not so easy to do when you find yourself in that position, but those who would cause you harm are children of God too. You can’t let them cause that harm if you can help it, of course, but you can’t let them “harm your heart” either.
Join us this Sunday to hear not only Jesus’ challenging words, but also to catch a vision of the good heart YOU can walk away with!

Have you been looking for an opportunity to increase your faith, grow your relationship with God, and become more biblically educated? This spring, Spirit Groups are making a journey through Holy Week while following Pastor Jeff’s Lenten sermon series, “The Longest Week,” and we want you to join us! This series will be a deep and thoughtful reflection of Jesus’ experience his last week on earth, and the companion small group curriculum will take you even deeper into your personal understanding of who Jesus is through weekly discussion. Groups are gathering and forming now! If you are interested in joining a group, or interested in starting your own group, please contact Anna Borders, SpiritGroup Coordinator. I love to chat about SpiritGroups, catch me after worship if you want more information!
The Bee Friendly Project
As a part of the Bee Friendly Project, I have begun the official “Bee Friendly Gardening Co-Op” on Facebook, and I invite you to join and share this amazing group. Our following in the Hutchinson community has already quadrupled overnight! The gardening co-op is for anyone who would like to be a part of sharing information, support, and seeds and cuttings from their garden with others in the Hutchinson area who would also like to begin pollinator gardens. You can find the group by clicking here or find my page and follow the links. Garden season is just beginning, and I will have lots of seeds to give away, so spread the word to all your gardening friends! If you would like more information or to find out how you can help, contact Anna Borders, Building Superintendent.
We give thanks for the life of Nathaniel Isom. You can read the obituary here.
Filling Our Hope Houses! The Delos Smith Senior Center has a group of ladies that do crocheting and knitting for charity. They have agreed to include our Hope Houses in their group of recipients and this is the first haul. I don’t know how often we will get them but I think there were 3 scarves and 30 or more hats!
