Memorial Day: Hope in Times of Grief

Memorial Day is a time we often think of those we love but who are no longer with us. It’s a difficult time, to be sure. There’s nothing that can relieve the pain of grief.  Perhaps it’s best that way as our tears show how much we love those we’ve lost. We can’t make the pain go away, but we can look to one another for support in the midst of it and, even more importantly, look to God for hope that there is good to be found in it.

This Sunday we turn to the book of Hebrews in the Bible to learn of the great family tree of hope. The way it tells the story it’s kind of like a “relay race of hope–” we can follow the great “baton” handed down through the ages. We see SO many blessings along the way! Now it’s our turn to run with it before we pass it on. It fills us with hope to remember all the good that God has already done– just think what God will do next, through us!

Wonderful Wednesday/Third Service

We will continue our Wonderful Wednesday & Third Service on May 31st at 6pm in Friendship Place. We are asking everyone to bring a main course and either a side or dessert to share with the group. Drinks, plates, cups & plastic-ware will be provided by the Health & Hospitality Team. You can stay for Third Service, starting at 6:15pm in the same room. The speaker on May 31st will be Anna Borders. Invite a friend to come with you for the food!, fun!, fellowship!, and faith!

Memorial Day Ceremony – Help Needed

Our church is blessed to be located next to the Soldiers and Sailors monument in downtown Hutchinson. There is a Memorial Day ceremony at the monument every year and we are blessed to be something of a host for it. Join us this Monday at 9am! If you’re coming, please consider coming a little bit early to help set up chairs so we can provide the community a warm welcome to our “front porch!”
