Weekly Update for June 15, 2017

Weekly Update

This Sunday: Problems.

Do you have problems? Of course you do– we all do! But, there’s more than one way to look at our trouble.

The Bible doesn’t deny how difficult life can be sometimes, but it reminds us to keep our eyes on the silver lining of our troubles, too. If you think about it, isn’t it true that the problems of your past have made you a better, stronger person now? Just think what God will do with the difficulties before you now!

Join us this Sunday as we read Romans 5:1-8 and remember how Jesus helps us through. Bring your troubles with you and “lay them on the altar–” I promise you’ll find God’s mercy and strength to be exactly what you need!
Macedonia Missionary Baptist Invitation

Our church has received a special invitation to a revival coming soon at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. Macedonia Missionary Baptist is an African American congregation at 1015 East 7th Street– if you’ve never been to an event like this than you should. It’s a great opportunity to experience God in a new way and to simply be inspired to greater faith while building bridges in our community. Our choir has also been invited to sing, so come to support them, too! It’ll be Monday, June 19 at 7:00 p.m. See you there!

Wonderful Wednesday/Third Service
Just two more weeks of Wonderful Wednesday/Third Service program! Don’t miss out if you haven’t been a part of these events! This is a wonderful time to come, take part in a meal, get to know each other a little better, and to worship with music, scripture, prayers & sermon! Our meal starts at 6pm in Friendship Place (on the east side of the church). We ask that you bring a main course and either a side dish or dessert to share for the meal. Our speaker on June 21st is Jeff Graber. Come with a friend for the food, fellowship, fun & faith!

Saturday Play Group

FUMC has a Summer Playgroup to help our kids run off some of that extra summer break energy. They normally meet on Wednesdays, but occasionally they do one on Saturdays so that those who work weekdays have a chance to come too. This Saturday, June 17, is one such event. Join us Saturday at 10:30 at Herman Bunte Park. For more information contact Amy Slater or call the office.

Giving for Last Week’s Guests

Last Sunday we were blessed to hear from two United Methodist Missionaries, Emmanuel and Florence Mefor. They told us about all they are doing at Mutambara Hospital in Zimbabwe. If you missed it, you can read more about them by clicking here. [Jeff will add link] You can also give to support their work knowing that every penny will go directly to them! We have three “Advance Special numbers,” as they are called: one for Emmanuel, one for Florence, and one for Mutambara Hospital itself. Just specify which you want to donate on your gift and we’ll make sure it gets there!

Other Blessings

  • Pantry Needs: Spaghetti sauce, canned chicken, canned tuna, canned ham, assorted juices, crackers, peanut butter & jelly.
  • Have you linked your Dillons Plus card with the church? If you do, a portion of all your normal purchases will go to support our ministries! You can set it up by clicking here or contact the office if you’d like help.
